Food, Non-Food, Protection, Health and WASH Support for Conflict-Affected Families
Project funded by Saferworld – SHF4 (2025–2026)
In response to growing humanitarian needs in North Darfur, Future Stars Center (FSC), in collaboration with Mama Africa Organization, implemented an emergency assistance activity in Tawila locality to support displaced families affected by food insecurity and limited access to basic services.
The intervention focuses on assisting internally displaced persons (IDPs) who are facing difficult living conditions by providing immediate life-saving support while contributing to community resilience.
Distribution of food baskets to 250 households identified as most vulnerable
Support for families living in open areas and temporary shelters
Engagement of local partners to facilitate community-led implementation
During this phase, field teams reached Al-Umda area in Tawila, where 250 food baskets were distributed. The contents were selected to help meet essential nutritional needs for families during this period.
Humanitarian work in conflict-affected areas often involves complex conditions. During distribution activities in Al-Umda, a fire incident occurred near the distribution site, adding pressure to an already challenging situation for displaced residents. Despite these circumstances, the teams completed the distribution while prioritizing safety and coordination with local actors.
This activity highlights the importance of working with locally led initiatives. Collaboration with community-based partners helps ensure that assistance is delivered efficiently and in ways that reflect local realities and needs.
