Empowering women to be catalysts for peace is essential in building inclusive and resilient societies. Recognizing the pivotal role that women play in fostering dialogue, preventing conflict, and driving community development, Future Stars Center, with the support of Safer-World, conducted a transformative training workshop titled “Gender for Peace: Sudanese Women Alliances Training – Activisms and Challenges”.
Held in March 2022 in El Fasher, the workshop brought together a diverse group of women and men from across Darfur. This representation from multiple states ensured a rich exchange of ideas, perspectives, and local experiences that strengthened the program’s outcomes.
The training aimed to build the capacity of Sudanese women alliances to address gender-related challenges, promote peace, and enhance their advocacy efforts. Sessions covered:
Understanding gender and peacebuilding frameworks.
Strategic planning for sustainable impact.
Effective activism in the face of cultural and political challenges.
Through interactive discussions, practical exercises, and collaborative planning, participants explored actionable strategies to strengthen women-led networks, expand community outreach, and advocate for gender-sensitive policies.
A key highlight was the strategic planning dialogue, where participants developed roadmaps for ongoing collaboration, including cross-state communication channels and joint advocacy campaigns. These initiatives are designed to ensure that the conversation on gender equality and peace continues beyond the workshop setting.
By the end of the program, attendees expressed a strong commitment to applying the skills and strategies learned, with a shared vision of fostering inclusive and peaceful communities.
At Future Stars Center, we remain committed to empowering women leaders, facilitating inclusive dialogue, and advancing gender equality as a cornerstone of lasting peace.
