Supporting a Photography Mission to Highlight Women’s Role in Peacebuilding

Visual storytelling is a powerful tool for amplifying voices, inspiring action, and documenting the human side of peacebuilding. Between 19–22 June 2022, Future Stars Center supported a photography mission in El Fasher aimed at capturing the significant role of women in promoting peace and driving positive change at the local level.

The mission was led by a professional consultant photographer, with Future Stars Center providing comprehensive coordination and logistical support. This included working closely with Saferworld and its local partners to ensure that the mission was well-organized and impactful.

Our team arranged all necessary logistics, including transportation, accommodation, and coordination with communities and partner organizations. A detailed timetable was developed to ensure that the photographer could effectively visit different locations, meet with key stakeholders, and capture authentic moments that reflect women’s leadership and resilience.

Over the course of the mission, the photographer documented the experiences and contributions of 32 participants18 women and 14 men—from diverse communities. The images highlighted the courage, dedication, and creativity of women who are working tirelessly to promote dialogue, resolve conflicts, and strengthen community bonds.

These photographs serve as both a historical record and a source of inspiration, offering a window into the transformative power of women-led initiatives in Darfur. They also contribute to ongoing advocacy efforts by illustrating real-life examples of grassroots peacebuilding in action.

At Future Stars Center, we believe that showcasing stories visually can bridge divides, foster empathy, and encourage greater public engagement. Supporting this photography mission aligns with our commitment to documenting and sharing the positive change happening in our communities.
