Empowering grassroots women leaders remains a cornerstone of effective community resilience in conflict-affected regions. Between July 1 and July 15, 2026, the women-led Productive Hands Initiative, implemented with support from the Future Stars Center for Development and Capacity Building, successfully executed a vital humanitarian and social cohesion project in Shoba Mansour, Al-Shati Neighborhood, within the new displacement centers of Kebkabiya Locality, North Darfur State.
Addressing Critical Vulnerabilities
Operating with a dedicated team of 14 members (10 women and 4 men) under women leadership, the initiative was designed to tackle multi-layered community hardships. Primary objectives focused on mitigating rising malnutrition rates among vulnerable households, delivering critical emergency food assistance, and fostering values of mutual respect, tolerance, and the peaceful acceptance of diversity.
Community-Driven Implementation and Activities
Through structured field coordination and stakeholder engagement, the initiative delivered comprehensive support directly to displaced populations. Key implemented actions included:

Emergency Food Assistance: Distribution of vital food baskets containing essential items such as sugar, cooking oil, lentils, pasta, millet, and soap.

Social Cohesion & Awareness: Organizing targeted training workshops to counter hate speech alongside community awareness seminars within local neighborhoods.
Impact and Inclusion
The intervention directly benefited displaced families residing in the new shelter centers, alleviating immediate food insecurity while enhancing community awareness through educational workshops. The overwhelming positive response from beneficiaries highlights the critical success of embedding psychosocial and social cohesion components alongside material aid.
